an ode to friendship

July 25, 2011

It’s Monday morning and I am feeling refreshed and ready to tackle my projects for the week, after a bittersweet but amazing weekend that was filled with laughter, dancing, friends and unfortunately goodbye’s.

Living on an island that thrives on tourism, the many friendships you make are based on a 14 day period.

The time is always looming over your head pushing you to try and fit as much as you possibly can into a very small window until the alarm goes off and it’s all over for another year.

What makes this summer harder is knowing that my husband and I are off on a new adventure at the end of this year and may not see some of these special smiling faces we have always looked forward to welcoming summer after summer, for quite some time.

Goodbye’s have a more permanent feel to them these days.

Memories are more cherished.

In the end, I am simply grateful to have had the chance to cross paths with some truly genuine souls.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.

“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.” ~Unknown

On another note,

I’ve been thinking about taking a digital sabbatical next month to fully enjoy and immerse myself into the beautiful month of August away from all technology and distractions.

Then I came across the August Break at Susannah Conway’s site this morning and what a great idea this is.

Instead of completely losing touch with your blog for the month, you simply share a picture whenever you choose, without words, without any obligations or rules. It’s all up to you whether you want to post a photo everyday, every few days or once a week.

Perfect for a summer break and at the end of August it will be amazing to just look back at what the month meant to you through your pictures.

There’s already an amazing group of people coming together to take part in this, so head over here and come join the fun.

Enjoy the last week of July everyone.

Bisous,

~J
